Michelle Buffington

10th Grade ELA

Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Michelle is a graduate of the University of Delaware majoring in English/Journalism. Upon graduation, she followed her dream of becoming a New Yorker moving here 30 years ago to pursue a job in magazine publishing. Looking for a career change to a more meaningful profession, Michelle joined the staff of Lyons in 2016 as part of the Urban Teacher Residency Program which offered her daily hands-on teaching experience in the classroom with the guidance of a mentor teacher and coach, while at the same time earning a Master's degree from Hunter College Graduate School of Education. What she values most about teaching is the ability to make a difference in students’ lives. When she’s not at school, you can find her on her yoga mat, in the kitchen cooking and baking, or spending quality time with her husband, her three adult children, and Cheech the cat.
