Melody Kology, 9th Grade Social Studies
Melody is excited to have joined the Lyons community this year, teaching 9th-grade Global History in her second year teaching in the Williamsburg/Bushwick neighborhood she has also called home for over fifteen years.
Before entering the classroom, Melody spent years working in television production and, before that, built a dog-care company from the ground up. Eventually, her curiosity about how the past shapes the present drew her back to school to study History and Education at Hunter College, graduating summa cum laude.
She is passionate about helping students develop the skills to analyze how the world works, to question the stories we inherit, and to use history as a roadmap to better understand our current situation.
Outside of school, Melody can usually be found hiking and camping, tinkering with creative artistic projects, or enjoying time with her partner and their two cats, JJ and Lulu, who, despite being cats, are convinced they are dogs
