English as a New Language

Alex was born and raised in Washington Heights and treasures warm memories of the learning experiences she had as a New York City public school student. Alex received her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University (Go Bearcats!) and her master's degree from NYU Steinhardt. She loves to do yoga, knit, hike and ski

At Lyons, Alex teaches English to Multilingual Learners (MLLs). When she first considered becoming a teacher, she knew teaching English as a New Language would be a perfect fit. She’s always loved to travel and learn about new cultures.  She has traveled to many countries and has lived in a few.

Alex has taught in the NYCDOE since 2011 and at LYONS since 2019. She is so happy to be part of the LYONS community and she looks forward to making new memories in the years to come!
