Clayton Drinko

8th Grade ELA
Clay is happy to be joining the Lyons team this year as the 8th grade English Language Arts Teacher. He is coming from the Bronx High School for Medical Science where he taught drama and ELA for four years.

Clay moved to New York City to be an actor. He was lucky enough to have small roles on shows like Law and Order and Law and Order: SVU. Clay has two Masters degrees, one in Performance Studies and the other in Adolescent Education. He also earned a Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre Studies from Tufts University. His current research interest is how to use improvisation principles to improve teaching and learning and help students to be more creative and expressive. Clay had his research published in the book Theatrical Improvisation, Consciousness, and Cognition, and his latest research will appear in a chapter in Creativity Theory and Action in Theatre/Drama Education in 2018.
