7th Grade Art / Field StudiesMeryl came to Lyons after receiving her Masters degree in Art Education from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Having grown up in the Bronx, Meryl attended such schools as Central Park East, The Bronx New School, and LaGuardia High School. She went on to Hampshire College where she concentrated in Child Studies and Photography. Meryl has worked in various after school and community programs with children ranging in age from two through 18 since she was in high school. Within these programs Meryl made art with the young people, focusing in photography and the documentation of their worlds. Meryl continues to explore her own artwork through various media, from photography to knitting to collage to sculpture. Meryl continues to learn and grow everyday from her interactions with both the staff and the students at Lyons. She is thrilled to be at a school where everyone is committed to working with, caring for, and connecting with students in meaningful ways. |
