Marcos joined Lyons in the fall of 2015 after finishing his Master’s Degree in Global History at Queens College.  Marcos previously taught at another Consortium school in a high school located in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He was born and raised in New York City (Brooklyn) and his parents are from the Caribbean. Marcos served as a military policemen in the U.S. Army for eight years and served in Iraq. He decided to come home and become a social studies teacher after finishing his enlistment.

As a social studies teacher, Marcos enjoys helping students make connections to the present using examples from the past and how the past helps to shape the present. Marcos also loves to teach his students to question the world around them and never accept anything at face value. He is very excited to teach at a different level and join the dynamic Lyons team and work with such a great community of people.
